In Puerto Rico, seasonal foods may vary slightly due to the tropical climate. In Puerto Rico it is always summer but some foods that could stand out depending on the season are:

During almost the entire year we have avocados, mangoes, pineapples, guineos (bananas), guavas, papayas, cassava, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and spinach, coconut, passion fruit, soursop and Caimito.

And then in winter we see more: mamey, mango, grapefruits, lemons, tangerines and oranges.

These products are adapted to local availability and sometimes to the preferences of each client.
Most of the products found in the country's markets are imported to the island. Although there is still local agriculture, and it is enjoyed by people who love fresh local products.

The rich culinary tradition of Puerto Rico is nourished by its Taíno ancestors, Spanish and African influence, creating a unique fusion that combines the best of each culture. Common ingredients such as rice, cassava, bananas, tropical fruits and a variety of meats form the base of many dishes, from classic white rice with beans to more elaborate delicacies such as alcapurrias and mofongo.
